A Tucson Santa Fe is characterized by a "flat" roof which isn't actually flat it has a pitch of approx 1/2 inch and is often on sevaral levels for drainage.
It is rectangular in shape with varying sizes of rectangles making up the entire structure. It is characterized by Viga beams which protrude from the exterior of the house and often form the roof beam inside the home as well. Tucson Santa Fe homes often have wood lintels over the window and doorways as well.
The Santa Fe style of roof requires more regular maintenance since it is built up material with a rolled on sealer. A sealer of choice in Tucson is elastomeric and can be purchased in varying grades.
